About Sadeh
Sadeh celebrates the discovery of fire. In the Shahnameh, King Hushang hurled a stone at a serpent and saw a spark leap from stone striking stone — and made that day a festival. The name comes from sad, "hundred": fifty days and fifty nights before Nowruz.
On the eve of 10 Bahman, great bonfires are lit on high ground — a rite the Zoroastrians of Kerman and Yazd keep most magnificently. UNESCO inscribed Sadeh on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2023.
