🍎 Mehregan

Mehregan honors Mithra — divinity of covenant, friendship and light — and in ancient Iran it was second only to Nowruz. In myth it marks the day Fereydun and Kaveh the Blacksmith overthrew the tyrant Zahhak: the victory of justice over oppression.

It is also the autumn harvest feast: the Mehregan spread is laid with senjed, pomegranates, apples and rosewater, and bonds of friendship are renewed. In Achaemenid times, the realm's tributes arrived at court in this season.
