In this book, Prince Reza Pahlavi examines the challenges facing Iran and the necessity of choosing a democratic path for the country's future.

About this book

Iran: The Time to Choose, by Prince Reza Pahlavi, was published in French in 2009 as Iran: l'heure du choix — a long interview with the French journalist Michel Taubmann, issued by Denoël. It is the Prince's most developed French-language articulation of transition strategy, appearing the same year the Green Movement drew the world's attention back to Iran.

In it, Prince Reza Pahlavi makes the case for a secular, democratic Iran fully integrated into the international community: a parliamentary system that upholds human rights, gender equality, and the separation of religion and state. He again stresses peaceful civil disobedience as the path to ending the Islamic Republic, and appeals to the international community — especially Europe — to support Iran's democratic opposition.

For diaspora readers, The Time to Choose is a companion to the Prince's earlier works and shows how steady his message has remained over the years: Iran stands before a historic choice between the continuation of tyranny and the opening of a democratic path.
